Addons & Mods

Addons are programs that you can install into your World Of Warcraft files on your computer to alter the game for a more fun and profitable WoW gameplay. The best part is that Blizzard won't ban you for using Addons. As you've probably already read here I always recomend that EVERYONE pick up atleast 2 addons for the game.

Auctoineer

The first one that I'll tell you about is Auctioneer. Unless you've already bought a ton of gold, or have a lvl 70 shippin you all the gold you need, you'll want to make gold in the AH. Auctioneer takes your Auction House screen and puts 4 extra tabes on the bottom of it. Bean Counter, Search Auctions, Post Auctions, and Btm Scan. Also in your browse tab, next to where your gold count is to the right you'll see a new button named San.

What you'll wanna do when you get it installed is go into your browse and hit that scan button, or you can manually type in /auctioneer scan. Auctioneer will scan the AH, and have detailed info aboutthe going price for items. Don't rely on it too much for the first few days as data collected seems to be crazy, because some people list items for values that they're not worth. I've had a 1g object show up as being worth 300g before. That's not the actual value, just what someone who didn't know any better put it in there for.

Auctioneer will show you the values of items in your bags. So if you're out questing and run out of room in your bag you can through out the cheapest crap, and keep the things of higher value. Which is awesome.

When you're ready to list an item for sell Auctioneer makes it easy to list it, and what the current listed items are selling for. So if you've got a stack of linen cloth you're about to sell, you can click on the Post Auctions tab, and drop it in the slot. It'll show you the recommended price you should list it for (undercutting 5%) and what other people are currently selling stacks of Linen Cloth for. There's a lot more that it can do, but this is mainly what I use it for. It'll also search deals for you, and tell you the price items are worth when enchanted. Quest Helper

Without a doubt, this is the most time saving addon out there. If you've even spent half an hour, even 10 minutes on the net searching for where a boss is, or some guy you have to go talk to, this addon is for you. Wouldnt it be nicer if you could just look at your map and see a smiley face where you need to go to? How about a dotted line connecting the best route possible? Aaahh Quest Helper to the rescue. This addon has saved me HOURS of lookin up quests and searching for info on the net, and kept me playing and leveling, which rocks. Head over to the Quest Helper place to download it. I have install instructions below.

Addon Installation

Finding the Addons was easier for me to do then finding out how to install them. But I finally did, and want to make it a lot easier process for all of you who are here. If you're downloading for Curse click download and choose the Choose a Mirror Automatically option. Save the files somewhere on your computer that you can easily access them. Like to your Desktop or in your Documents, somewhere you can find them.

Now close everything and access your World of Warcraft Files. To do this you can go to the Start Menu, and then My Computer...you're now looking in your C drive. You may have your World of Warcraft somewhere different, but the default is to have it in Programm Files. Open the Program Files, and find the WoW files and open them up. Now find the Interface file and open it. Then find the Addons file and open it. This is where you'll be putting your addon to activate it.

Open another window and access the files that you have downloaded. Unzip it if you haven't already. Click and drag all the files inside to the Addons file that you still have open...if you closed it, you're an idiot, HA HA HA...i did the first time, :) Go open it again! Now drag everything in there, it's really quick and easy. Now you're big time with your new addon(hopefully quest helper or auctioneer if you dont have them already). If you had World Of Warcraft open, close it and re open it. Sometimes that works for it to activate. I reboot just to make sure. Sign in and run to the AH, look at your map or whatever to make sure that everything is working. And most importantly...enjoy.
